TCGI Begins Work on Four New Choice Neighborhood Initiative Planning Grants in 2012

On Thursday, October 11, 2012, HUD announced that 17 new communities will receive Choice Neighborhood Initiative Planning grants.  The winners were selected from 72 competitive applications nationwide.

TCGI will begin the planning process to create Transformation Plans for four new 2012 grantees:  Durham, NC; Spartanburg, SC; Kingsport, TN (with Urban Collage); and Columbia, SC (with Urban Collage).  Since the first planning grant awards were announced in 2010, TCGI has assisted 11 housing authorities win awards, which is nearly 25% of all awards made nationwide.

The HUD grant will be leveraged with significant private and other public resources to conduct an intensive planning and outreach effort to transform the target neighborhoods in each city.
