Stphen Matzie
The TCGI Team
Mr. Matzie is currently one of the key long term staff of the USAID Financial Institutions Reform and Expansion (FIRE-D) project in India. This is the longest running USAID project in the Agency\'s global portfolio and focuses on infrastructure development in water, sewerage and solid waste management. As an urban planner and finance specialist Mr. Matzie works on FIRE-dS Slum upgrading activities, including the delivery comprehensive infrastructure services.
Mr. Matzie consults extensively for both domestic and international clients in the areas of municipal finance, project finance, affordable housing development and local economic development. Before joining FIRE-D, he completed comprehensive financial strategies and site plans for revitalizing blighted inner city communities in Granite City, IL and Fayetteville, NC. He has a diverse background in economics and international affairs including research experience at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, DC and consulting at Aid to Artisans, an NGO targeting grassroots business development.
In 2005, Stephen joined TCGI from Oxford University where he received a MA degree in International Development with special attention devoted to economic development and conflict studies. Research areas included the economic growth and strategic planning, technology transfer, macroeconomic stabilization, and post-conflict reconstruction.
